Ascension requirement 1: Balance your threefold flame

Hello friends and welcome to Ascended Masters 101. This is where we talk all about the teachings of the ascended masters. Today we are going to talk about the first of eight requirements for making your ascension, or graduating from the school room of earth once and for all, just like Buddha, Jesus, Mary, and countless others have done before us and now teach us how to do the same. 

If you are new to this idea, I invite you to first watch the video on this channel called your new life goal: the ascension. It should give you a great foundation and context for understanding the content of this video.

So – the requirements for the ascension. This is the spiritual curriculum that many of our souls have  been waiting for for thousands of years and is now available to us through the teachings of the ascended masters. To me, this knowledge is like gold and it is such an honor for me, for you, and all those who sit at the feet of the ascended masters to learn these inner mysteries and apply them in our lives to attain our own ultimate victory.

So, without further ado, the first requirement for the ascension is to balance your 3 fold flame. Now, first we’ll talk about what the threefold flame is, and then we’ll talk about how to balance it.

Now just like the heart is the central organ in your physical body, so the heart chakra is the central, most important chakra in your spiritual, or etheric body. Now why is that? Because the heart chakra houses within it the very spark of our divinity, called the threefold flame. 

The threefold flame is a tiny spiritual flame that’s about 1/16 of an inch that resides in a special, secret chakra called the secret chamber of the heart. This secret, holy chakra has eight petals, and is a gorgeous peach color. And in the center is the threefold flame, also known as the divine spark or the Christ Flame. The threefold flame is an extremely  precious gift because it is literally a spark of God himself that he has transmitted from his heart to each one of our hearts, and it is our soul’s point of contact with the Supreme Source of all life. 

The ascended masters have made countless references to the threefold flame, teaching about its huge significance in our life and self mastery, and giving us a roadmap for developing it. The threefold flame is a major key to our spiritual progress, and acknowledging its sacredness, nurturing it and developing it are crucial keys to the path of personal Christhood and of making our ascension.

The threefold flame is connected to a cord of white light called the crystal cord. I personally think of it as your spiritual umbilical cord. This cord goes from your threefold flame, up to the heart of your higher self, which the ascended masters also call your Holy Christ Self, then to your I AM Presence, the part of you that is already God, and from there, directly to the heart of God. So the threefold flame is like the anchor of God within you that ties you directly to God’s heart. The threefold flame is the place where we go to commune with the divine, to intensify the experience of spirit. It is where we go to commune with our higher self, and to receive the light from the I AM Presence, the part of each of us that is already God. 

Now Meister Eckhart was a fourteenth century Christian Theologian and mystic who taught about the threefold flame when he said that there is a part of us that “remains eternally in the Spirit and is divine…. Here God glows and flames without ceasing”. That’s from page 26 of the book The Spiritual Quest. 

And this doesn’t come only from Christianity. In Buddhism, they speak of the “germ of Buddhahood,“ or Buddha nature, that exists in every living being. 

I feel that so often people look for God outside of themselves. I know a number of young (and not so young) people who are traveling the world looking for that special something. And yes, while it’s true that God is everywhere, it simply isn’t necessary to go further than your own secret chamber of the heart to connect with the divine.

As Jesus said in Luke 17:21, “ The kingdom of God is within you.” What he was saying is that your heart is the place to contact spirit and realize divine consciousness. 

There is a Tibetan legend quoted on page 26 of The Spiritual Quest that speaks so well to this. It goes like this:

After an arduous journey across the Himalayas, a young seeker arrived at the cave of an old hermit. 

“Where are you going? “The hermit asked. 

“To find Shambala, “the youth replied.

“Ah! Well, then, you need not travel far,“ the hermit said. 

“For the kingdom of Shambala is in your heart.“ 

Now, we’ve discussed this somewhat intellectually but what does it feel like to connect with and commune with your inner spark of divinity? What does it feel like to touch the hem of God? Everyone will give you a different answer as to what it feels like for them, but for me, it feels like coming home in the best possible way you can imagine. Entering the secret chamber of the heart feels like I’m entering a place outside of time and space that is infinitely cozy, it’s intimate, it’s perfectly safe, and it’s more real than anything I’ve experienced in my outer awareness of the world around me. It feels really, really holy, and it’s a place of rest and peace warmth and total love. It’s a place you never want to leave. And I know that I’ve just barely scratched the surface of the surface. And we all have this! We’re all carrying around our own inner chapel of awesomeness in our hearts with us every step we take.

Now, let’s take a minute to talk about what your threefold flame looks like. This spiritual spark of God in your heart is made up of three intertwining, fiery plumes of light that are pink, yellow and blue. 

The pink plume represents the love of God. It is the creativity that comes from the love, compassion and grace of the Holy Spirit.

The yellow plume represents the wisdom of God, The mind of Christ within each of us that gives us discriminating intelligence.

The blue plume represents the power of God, the determination that can bring your soul’s divine blueprint into a reality in your life.

These plumes also represent the divine Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit or, in Hindu terminology, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.

The threefold flame springs from a fiery core that corresponds to the mother aspect of God. It is represented by the color white.

The ascended master Lord Lanto has actually done what no one else in earth’s recoded history since the fall had done: his love for the trinity in his heart was so great that the intense glow of that divine spark could actually be seen through his flesh form, emanating a soft golden glow through his chest. He maintained this in honor of the revered ascended master Santa Kumara until he ascended around 500 B.C. (The Masters and Their Retreats, pg 183.)

When I was little, we lived in a community of students of the ascended masters, and each fall, instead of Halloween, we celebrated All Saints Day. All the kids dressed up as angels, gnomes, and ascended masters, and we’d go around to these ascended master booths in which the adults has set up different cool experiences. In one booth, everything was made of flowing pink cloths and there was a little table with a pink phone on it. And on that phone, you could call the ascended master Nada and talk to her. It was a lady responding behind the curtain, but I’m telling you – it was like the real thing to me. 

In another booth, we got to talk with Lord Lanto, who had his threefold flame shining from his chest. This is actually a picture of me in that booth, sitting by Lanto. I was dressed up as Mary, the mother of Jesus, but we had to wear our coats it was so cold, so all you see is the veil. Anyways, small childhood tangent I thought I’d share. 

Now, the threefold flame is like a seed with all of its potential locked inside. And the seed needs tending and nurturing, otherwise it will remain dormant. In another video I’ll discuss what the ascended masters have taught us about how to nurture and grow our threefold flames. But for this video, let’s focus on how to balance our threefold flame.

Now when you look at a picture of the threefold flame, the flames are shown as having the same strength and size, which is the ideal, balanced state for the threefold flame to be in. But for most of us, we need to make a determined effort to bring our threefold flame plumes into balance, because most of us are not perfectly equal in our virtues of love, wisdom and power. 

We all have preferences for certain kinds of activities, and we have likely developed the threefold flame according to those innate tendencies. We read in meeting the masters on page 207, 

“Some have a great momentum on studying the truths of being and how life works, reflected in a well developed yellow plume. Others have been a driving force or organizer behind various projects, outpictured in a strong blue plume. still others have creative and loving personalities, indicating a more sizable pink plume. It is a human tendency to develop the plume or plumes corresponding to the characteristics that we are able to express most naturally. This usually results in an imbalance. 

Balancing the threefold flame is a major theme in the ascended masters teachings because it is a primary requirement for making the ascension and because imbalance is so common. Jesus counseled us in a dictation to ask ourselves if we have the rocket power to make our ascension in this life. He said that a balanced threefold flame is essential to generating this rocket power.“

So when we build on our strengths without working on our weaknesses, giantism occurs, which is when one of the three plumes is larger than the others. This can keep us from achieving our daily goals as well as the goal of self mastery. The ascended masters teach us that unless we correct giantism, it will eventually result in the reduction of all of the plumes down to the size of the smallest one in order to bring about balance.

So we always want to raise up the shortest plume in order to correct this lopsidedness. So how do we do that? We can do this by performing some work and service until we know that we have raised up the plume that we may have previously neglected. 

So the first step in balancing your threefold flame is taking a good look at yourself and discerning which of your three plumes is likely the smallest. Once you know this key, you can take practical steps to increase it and bring it more into balance with your other plumes. There is a threefold flame self assessment on page 216 of the book Meeting the Masters in which you rate yourself on 120 different qualities that each come under one of the three plumes. This quiz can help you discern how strong each of your plumes is in relation to the other two. After the quiz is a reflection section in which you can see a breakdown of which qualities fall under each plume that gives you additional insight into what each plume is about.

The balance of the plumes of your threefold flame is also a reflection of your psychology and karma. We read on page 208 of Meeting the Masters, “The ascended masters also teach that an unbalanced threefold flame shows an unbalanced psychology and that the healing of one’s psychology is a necessary step on the path of the ascension. It is therefore helpful for the spiritual student to gain an awareness of personality traits, karmic situations and underdeveloped chakras that are blocking the development of one of the plumes.”

The lowest plume shows you where you have the greatest karma, as well as related psychological knots that may hinder you in balancing and expanding the threefold flame.

So, once you know which plume might be your smallest — through meditation, self reflection and by taking the threefold flame quiz if you choose, you can then pursue those activities that will help raise up your lowest plume. 

If your blue plume is the smallest, you can amplify it by taking on a leadership role you might otherwise not have considered, because leadership gives you the opportunity to use power correctly. This might look like taking charge of a committee, organizing after school activities for children, or leading a neighborhood drive for charity. 

You can strengthen your yellow plume of wisdom by meditating, teaching others to read and write, or by taking classes.

Strengthening your pink plume might look like being kind, serving those around you who need your love and compassion, or by doing considerate things for other people.

After you’ve worked on one plume for a time, you can always self-reflect and/or take the quiz again to see where you now stand in relation to your goal of a beautiful, balanced threefold flame. 

Another thing you can do to not only balance but also expand your threefold flame is to use the science of the spoken word which is a really effective form of spoken prayer that each of us can use to create positive change in our world. This science is given to us by the ascended masters to make swift progress towards our spiritual goals. 

One particular prayer, also known as a decree, is geared specifically towards the balancing and expanding of our threefold flames. This picture is of the text of the decree and in the video description is a link to a YouTube video so you can hear what the decree sounds like as you learn to give this prayer. 

As you can see, this isn’t super complicated work,  it’s something that each person can do, but it is crucial to your spiritual progress towards your ascension. And the awesome part is what happens once your threefold flame starts to become balanced.

We read on page 209 of Meeting the Masters, “When the threefold flame is balanced, the flame begins to spin in a clockwise direction. It gradually builds up speed and momentum as it rotates. The colors of the three plumes begin to blend and intermingle, becoming a glorious mother of pearl light. This light emits resurrecting and revitalizing energies throughout the four lower bodies (more on that in another video). As this occurs, the three-fold fountain of life also begins to expand and to move the soul above the vibrations of mere physical existence and more and more into the frequencies of spiritual realms.”

When your threefold flame is balanced, you will receive more light from your higher self. The light enters your heart chakra and then flows into your other chakras, opening their petals gently. As you learn to use this increasing flow of energy to positively change yourself and the world, you achieve self mastery. As you gain this mastery, you are naturally drawn into the divine consciousness of your higher self until you fully merge with your higher self in the ritual of the ascension. So there is this beautiful, self-transcendent science that occurs as soon as you put some attention to balancing the plumes of this divine spark within your heart. 

Once you realize how much spiritual growth and closeness to God you can achieve by working to balance your three fold flame, it becomes this super exciting project of working to spiritually transcend yourself. It’s like you’re transforming yourself from a caterpillar into a butterfly.
